Emily N. Smith is an IATSE Local 705 Custommade Patternmaker for television, film, and theatre based in Southern California.  She has her MFA in Costume Design and Technology from San Diego State University. 

Her most recent project is HBO’s Love and Death, premiered May 2023. Her latest feature film, Space Jam: A New Legacy, premiered on the big screen in 2021. Her television work can be seen on HBO’s In Treatment (S4), BET’s Twenties (S2), LA’s Finest (S2), Jane the Virgin (S5), ABC’s Dancing with the Stars (S27 and 29), and DWTS: Juniors. Before working in television, Emily was a Senior Craftsperson at the Los Angeles Opera, and her opera repertoire includes Carmen, Tales of Hoffman, Macbeth, and Abduction from the Seraglio.  Emily has also worked as a Crafts Artisan at the Old Globe Theatre for multiple Summer Shakespeare Festival seasons.  As a special costumes manufacturer, she has a variety of skills, including millinery, metal working, draping, dyeing, leather working and wearable electronics.
